Even though today was a third shorter, it was still tough. My legs didn’t want to work like yesterday. It may have been due to the poor sleep. I was woken up at 3 and never got back to bed. It was a beautiful day – still overcast, but with little rain and beautiful vineyards to walk through. It was a bit warmer than yesterday, which could also have contributed to the lack of energy today.
Either way, I made it. First one to the albergue again. They opened at 1 and I got there at 12:15. I waited for by fellow peregrinos to arrive and too of my boots. The boots are torture when not in use. I’m staying in the albergue that started in the 1000’s by St. Dominic de la Calzada. There’s a cathedral named after him just past the plaza here. They have 2 live chickens in it due to a miracle preformed in the town many centuries ago. In addition to the poultry, the cathedral has magnificent architecture and art. I’ll add more pictures later.
Stages on the Camino.Out at dawn.Grape vines along the way.More grapes. They say this is the Napa of Spain.Breakfast… Kind of bland. Just egg on bread.Check out that brickwork.Sleeping quarters tonight.Chickens live in that box above the door.St. Dominic
Main ornamental piece. Simply amazing.
