Today was a great day. I walked really well and made it to my hotel easily. I’ve got a room tomorrow night at the Parador Hotel in Santiago de Compostela. It is the oldest hotel in Spain and supposed to be one of the most beautiful as well. It is the old pilgrims’ hospital. They also have a tradition of providing a meal to the first 10 pilgrims that pass through the hotel each day. I’m thinking I’ll easily make that, but we’ll see.
I saw many more pilgrims on the path today. I don’t know where they are all coming from, but it’s a large mix of people.
It’s stage to think that after almost 20 days, I won’t need to get my credential stamped anymore and I should receive my Compostela paper that certifies I walked the 500 miles from France to Santiago. It’s been a tough journey, but very rewarding. Everyday I remind myself how fortunate I am to be able to do this walk at this time in my life. It is the first time, but I don’t think it will be the last.
Now it’s time to rest up for tomorrow and the four days worth of walking after tomorrow to the sea.
