Sunday, October 15 – I was fortunate enough to get upgraded to Delta One across the pond! I think I packed a little less this time than last time and my pack should be a bit lighter. I’m excited to hopefully meet up with my friends, the Corrigans. Marylou and Dennis will have a 4 day head start on me one I start walking Tuesday. They seem to be making good time and I’ll have to hustle to close the gap. Also, I forgot to mention I weighed 174 lbs. when I got up this morning.
This will be the first time I walk the Camino with a group, let alone with friends from back home. I’ve fell into a group of strangers for two or three days, but this will be quite different. I’m looking forward to it.
The first part of my walk will be like the previous ones until I catch them. Then we get to walk together and will hopefully have some great stories to tell.
Right now, I’m in the Sky club in Detroit awaiting my first of thee flights. I get to Porto by way of Atlanta and Madrid. I have my Camino guidebook and my Camino Spanish book to brush up on while I’ll be ensconced in my fold flat suite-seat.
Stay tuned. I’ll update this page along the way to Portugal.
Sat next to Tom on the plane. He’s known my aunt and uncle for decades and is also from St. Clair Shores. Nice coincidence.
I think this is now day two.

The trip over was very nice. I sat next to a retired Spanish professor from Purdue, Patti. She helped me with some of my Spanish language questions I’d been struggling with. I also met Neal from Indiana. He was curious about the Camino, and we chatted for a while.

Have a wonderful Trip Dominic!!
Thank you! 3 weeks and about 200 miles infront of me.
I’m glad your trip over the pond was smooth. When do you anticipate catching up with Dennis and Marylou? Stay dry and I hope your feet survive better this time. Enjoy the experience!
Thank you. Hopefully meeting up with them in a day or two, but they have a good pace going… So we’ll see. Today will be another long day.
