Friday, October 20, 2023 – I’m writing this post the next day because I was so beat last night. I uploaded my photos and couldn’t keep my eyes open.
But, it was a long way. The Oia Albergue was awesome and several folks that stamped my pilgrim passport saw the stamp and said singing to the effect of, “Ugo is the best!” He really was.
My legs didn’t feel the strongest today, so I decided to stay in a hotel. It’s the place the Corrigans stayed last night and it was welcomed. I got a room with a shower and real sheets (like Ugo’s place). Dinner was ok. It was very over cooked beef slices with not enough gravy/sauce to counter the dryness. The glass of vino tinto was excellent for 2.40 Euros. It was a long walk skiing the sea at many points. The wind was whipping and blew copious amounts of seafoam onto the Camino path. At one point, I had to walk through a section where it covered puddles and earth and I didn’t know where to step. I talked to some ladies the next day and they said it was about a foot deep when they tried to pass and they had to go over a stone wall and thicket.
It’s didn’t rain much, so I decided to press on to Oia. It’s a small town with friendly people. After the mediocre meal, I went back and passed out. Here’s my pictures from the day:
