Thursday, October 26, 2023 – Again with the rain. It let up just before we got to our hotel, but it was fairly intense at times. The paths turned into rivulets in places and there was standing water that one thought was a couple inches deep, but was actually feet deep.
We passed many different animals today, all of work I tried to get them to look at me by making their animal sounds. I only got one, a cow, to look. Dennis and I figure it’s because I’m speaking English animal sounds, and not Spanish animal sounds. The terrain today was pretty much a big hill. It was long going up and long coming down, but nothing too challenging.
I knew Marylou knew plants and flowers really well, but she’s incredible. During our walks, I ask her what thingy are and she usually has the answer, or at least knows what type of plant it is. Usually she knows the growing seasons and what they are good for too. I like seeing the countryside through her eyes.
Dennis has us scheduled to be in Santiago on Saturday. So we have only 2 more nights and walks until we get to enter the cathedral. I’m very impressed at Dennis and Marylou. More so Marylou than Dennis. She has a hip that bothers her in the rain and it’s been raining constantly for over a week. She never stops either. Up, or down a hill, she never stops. She has a slow and steady pace that may increase a little with a Coke or cafe con leche, but she never stops. She’s an inspiration to me. It’s been great getting to know my friends better over the past and next weeks. I never thought I’d be able to vacation in Europe for 3 weeks with any of my friends. This has been a great experience. Here’s the pics from today:
